Love Life: When Good Sundays Go Bad

So, I had today all planned out. A lovely cinema trip with the boys and a friend to see Mr Poppers Penguins at our favourite cinema, Quad in Derby; followed by tea at Frankie B's around the corner.

The Quad Arts Centre is one of my favourite places to spend time. A contemporary gallery, cafe bar (with wine and cupcakes!)and a cinema that shows some amazing films (and that you can take said wine and cupcakes into), it's definately my kinda place. I recently wrote the copy for some advocacy brochures for the centre and it really wasn't difficult to sing its praises as I love the place immeasurably :) It's a fab place for kids too, running arts workshops and showing kids movie on the weekends and in the holidays for just three quid a ticket. Win. Or so I thought.

Unfortunately, today the world seemed to be conspiring against me and the tribe. Of course, I was running late as usual, which resulted in us missing the bus to town. When we did eventually get there the film had sold out BIG GRUMP due to two birthday parties. So, hungry and needing to consider our next move we headed around the corner to Frankie B's, only to find the area directly outside cordoned off as a crime scene with forensics combing the ground and EVERYTANG! From the flowers on the ground nearby it looked like someone had died so I hurried my fascinated kids past in an attempt to avoid the awkward questions.

And so that's how, this Sunday, we ended up in Burger King before gracing the multiplex with our presence to watch a shockingly bad Jonny English 2.

Still, the kids enjoyed some fantastically bad taste slap stick comedy so all was not lost. In fact, dare I say, I think they enjoyed it more : /

This evening I'll be consoling myself with wine, X Factor, TOWIE and a Scream Egg. So sue me :)
